science wedding coming right up

my very favorite science couple just got engaged! Jonah researches dinosaur fossils (no joke) at the museum of natural history in nyc, and Kelsey introduced me oh so long ago to the wonderful world of molecular biology research when I was a young undergrad at GW.

Kelsey, me and Karine taking a break from the Evolution conference in Idaho two years ago. Naturally, we went for a hike and looked for plants we could identify.
I wonder what they'll decide on for the wedding... Knowing them, I imagine it will involve the outdoors, delicious cheese, and a sustainable means of celebration.  I'm having lunch with kels this week, so hopefully I'll get the inside scoop on their plans!

bicycle built for two

This sweet photo shoot made me think of when mimoun and I rode a tandem bike around the city walls of Xian, China. It was not as easy as I thought it would be!

I love these warm colors...

kelly weddings

Two of my cousins on the Kelly side each married their long time loves within the last six months. The first wedding in Seattle was dreamy and rustic in a barn-like setting with twinkle lights and simple flower arangements. The one I'm still recovering from on Saturday in SF was a traditional Catholic full Mass followed by a small but hip paaartaaay in Potrero hill. I could not be more of a sucker for the romanticism and joyful optimism of weddings. I tear up every time! Plus you get to throw a party in exactly the way you've always thought parties should be thrown. Lulu and I were way too busy owning the dance floor to take pics, luckily I found a substitute. This couple had their wedding at a summer camp in Arkansas! Get. right. out.

lots more freaking adorable pictures here
