Sorry posts have been a little scarce lately... I started studying for this test, the MCAT.  Hopefully, taking it will bring me one step closer to spending my life working with people whose brains are unique and special, like schizophrenics. 

As you've gathered, mimsy and I are moving to new yawwwk in a few short weeks! So, let me know if you are also studying for the MCAT and also live in the lower part of manhattan somewhere and are also looking for somone to study with.

Last year at SXSW, we went to a great backyard show sponsored by some sort of coconut water. On top of being gross, it was inefficient. How can you get pleasantly drunk in the afternoon if you're going to immediately rehydrate with coconut water? reader's thoughts on coconut water? I think it tastes like warm saliva, but, it seems to have a strong following. Not sure what I'm missing. 

Anywaaaay, Twin Sister played at the show and I was so hooked.  Here is a nice video of "all around and away we go."

Ukiyo-e

On the last day of 2010, mimoun and I perused a dreamy collection of japanese Ukiyo-e, literally "pictures of a floating world."  I thought it was neat to see the influence this technique and style had on impressionist artists after Japan opened its boarders in the 1850s. This image reminds me of a town we traveled to just outside of Kyoto where we wandered through a bamboo forest and sat by the river.

These waterfalls by Hokusai were two of my favorites from the exhibit.

I think we used to have a shoe uniform in catholic school because I remember wearing white keds a lot, and I remember how hot they would get from running around on the black asphault on warm fall days. These would have really clashed (and been awesome) with my green, white, and black plaid skirt.

Staying out at the beach for a few days was really beautiful. Mimoun, Mike and I drove over to Bolinas for a beer at Smiley's, where we ate christmas goose with the regulars and I made friends with an adorable three legged dog.

phewwww. I'm always a little relieved once christmas day is finally over and we can all get on with our lives!  I hope everyone had a nice weekend.  Libby says hi from kentfield, CA

lunar eclipse

Did everyone see the lunar eclipse last night? It was wondrous!  An awesome picture of the moon over the golden gate bridge and, below, over the washington monument.

christmas at the beach

happy holidays everyone! we are about to embark on nearly a week of quality time with the stillmans.  Mo and Jim have rented a house at Stinson Beach for the week (with no dogs allowed. preposterous) and Mike, mimoun, lucy and I will be out there on Saturday to celebrate with them.  can't wait to share pictures from whatever adventure my siblings + mimoun and I seek out on our customary christmas day hike to a magical place. Here are some christmas day photos from the past...

happy birthday mimsy!

Yesterday was Mimoun's birthday! Thanks brian and jared for a really fun evening and night. Dance party at midnight to Dominant Legs was tres awesome. Other highlights of the day/night include my fantastic peet's coffee and poppy seed bagels with cream cheese and cucumber breakfast made especially for mimsy, buying actually nice beer to drink (Shocktop and Red Tale Ale yum...), an enormous rosemary bush in the back yard of the party house that masked the beer and cigarette smell, and running in to old friends.
